When to Follow Up
Wait at least one to two weeks after submitting unless the job posting gives a specific timeline. If they say "No phone calls," respect that and use email only. For roles with a closing date, wait until after that date has passed.
How to Follow Up
Send a brief email. In the subject line, reference the role and your name (e.g., "Follow-up – Marketing Manager – Jane Smith"). In the body, thank them for considering your application, restate your interest in the role, and ask if there is any update or if they need additional information. Keep it to a few sentences.

Dear Hiring Manager, I submitted my application for the Marketing Manager position on [date]. I remain very interested in the role and would welcome the opportunity to discuss my fit. Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Jane Smith
What to Avoid
Do not follow up more than once or twice unless they respond and ask for more. Do not be aggressive or demanding. Do not call repeatedly if they have asked for email only. Keep the tone professional and polite.
